Angela Merkel, Lady Gaga and Beyonce, among the most powerful women in the world

According to Forbes magazine ranking achieved by the year 2011, Merkel has surpassed other women recognized in the world of politics or business, such as Hillary Clinton, U.S. Secretary of State, Dilma Rousseff, President of Brazil, and Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook chief executive.

In 2010 first place in the top was occupied by Michelle Obama, First Lady of the United States of America. According to news agency Reuters, Forbes has put together this list having regard to three criteria: personal wealth, “a component of traditional social media” and “basic power points”. As part of the third criterion listed, publishers have looked for every candidate if it had “an impact in many spheres of influence or if only a single authoritative source”.

Conducted by Forbes among women are found in the media as Oprah Winfrey and Arianna Huffington (Huffington Post founder), American actress Angelina Jolie and singer Beyonce Knowles.
